I purchased both Volumes of this terrific tour guide after reading Banksy's Wall and Piece and watching "Exit Through The Gift Shop" and am not disappointed! Both volumes are filled with great photos and tons of info on the location, history, condition (many of these have been removed since the last visit by the author) and you don't have to go all the way the England to see them! The author seems very humble about all of it, when he could certainly go the other way and come across as self-important. The whole project feels like an excited fan who just wants to share his stuff with you. He doesn't make value judgements about graffiti or art or Banksy for that matter.While I prefer volume 2 slightly (as it has more varied content) they are both wonderful and are both must owns. I don't know how to compare them to their original versions (these are the expanded US Editions) but they do contain more photos which is never a bad thing.Each book is about the size of a pocket paperback (turned on it's side) but these books have nice card stock covers and over a hundred glossy photographs. Highly recommended for Banksy fans.A note on the Kindle versions. I own a Kindle so this is in no way a diss on them. These books in particular do not work very well on the Kindle. If for no other reason, the color photos can't be reproduced and the black and white photos do not have the impact they do on the printed page. So, once again, Kindle's are great, just don't buy these on Kindle. Spring for the paper versions. You won't regret it.

If you don't mind the turgid style, James McDougall gives you a detailed, step by step description of the personalities and conflicts at the center of Algerian politics over several centuries. These, however, were not the only forces influencing the national development. In particular, what are very inadequately covered are two important factors:- How independence from France was actually achieved - not by guerilla war but by international pressure, and- What key foreign powers were doing - especially Soviets and Americans in the 20th century - to influence Algeria's future.In addition, there is virtually no description of the development of the oil & gas industry, which has had more impact on modern Algeria than all the domestic political gaming combined.

Very well done even though the prose is a bit dull.

This is one of very few books that approached the history of Algeria without bias.

I had hoped that this book would cover nXt in depth. There are a number of selections on various dialog boxes that we're not covered. This is particularly true for the material editor. I was hoping for an in depth discussion of creating different types of materials with detailed examples of each type. Just in the material editor there are number of options that we're not even discussed.The immediate project I have is an exterior model of a small shopping center. Looking for information to complete this task took less than an hour reading those sections that applied in this ebook. Needless to say, I had very few of my questions answered. The videos that are referenced in the ebook are free on the nXt site. For some odd reason, the book covers the content of the videos through writing and pictures as we'll. I suppose if you did not have internet access that would make sense...but if you choose the ebook format it is likely that you do have immediate access to the internet.For me, the book did not provide much new information over the time I spent just trying out the program. I do have quite a bit of experience using AR4 and earlier versions. To me it seems if you are paying nearly $6.00 for an ebook that it should be much more in depth with numerous detailed examples.

Elizabeth Hardwick (1916–2007) was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and educated at the University of Kentucky and Columbia University. An excellent set of essays. Unlike the typical jargon-ridden contributions to academic journals, these essays illuminate their topics (the Brontes, Ibsen's women, Don Giovanni, Hester Prynne, Hetty Sorrel, Roberta [in "An American Tragedy"], Maslova [in "Resurrection"], Clarissa, Tess) without any ax-grinding. They are written for those who wish to learn from, to see more clearly what is being shown in, the works of imaginative literature that are the treasure belonging to us all.One sentence after another both gets at the essence of the text she is explicating and is memorable in its expression. The title essay is simply great. Examples: "Sexual transgression loses its overwhelming character as a wrong or a mistake when the persons have virtues of a compelling sort, or spiritual goodness, or the grandeur of endurance." "In many respects, the characters in "The Scarlet Letter" are not characters at all, but large, fantastically painted playing cards. Symbolic action is Hester's role." "To think of the past as a series of agreements with others that make an everlasting claim on us is unreal, and yet it is one of the most interesting questions ever asked about the subject matter of so much art: youthful love." "Richardson thought, or told himself that he thought, of his brilliant creation as a sort of encyclopedia of male guile and treachery, an elaborate defensive karate, by which the menaced girls of the eighteenth century could learn to protect their virtue." "In a letter the writer holds all the cards, controls everything about himself and about those assertions he wishes to make concerning events or the worth of others.
