If you take supplements it's a must. I you want to include adaptogens in your diet read this. If you want to improve your health read this. If you want to improve the health and diet of your children, wife, husband, family read this book! So - do yourself a favor and buy and read this book.
WOW, I was not expecting a textbook! So many herbal books just gloss over information without getting into the meat of the herbs (i.e., materia medica). This book is a wonderful resource, filled with information on how to use the herb, and which herbs to use with. AWESOME, one of the best herbal books on my shelf. Someone from an herbal background or who is really deep into studying herbs will appreciate it. I teach a course on herbs and am personally most interested in adaptogenic herbs so I cannot be more thrilled with this goldmine of information. Even the forward and introduction were fabulous reads (and I read every word, which I usually don't). If you are a lay person who just wants some general knowledge without getting in deep into herbalism, you may not like this book. It truly is more like a text rather than easy reading.
Excellent presentation of traditional Chinese, Russian, and other historic information on use as well as information from more modern research. I appreciate both types of supporting data. The index is usable and there are sufficient references to sourcing to ensure potency and such.
