In Exceptional You, Victoria Osteen shares contemporary stories of struggles and successes of real people intertwined with Bible stories that align to the same topic. By seeing how God worked in people’s lives in the the ancient stories, the Bible comes alive and is revealed as applicable to our lives today. Osteen writes in an uplifting tone to share the message that God wants more for us and from us than we usually think we are capable of handling. Each chapter ends with positive encouagement that reads a bit like positive affirmations. The recommendations are to be more aware and take control of our attitude and our outlook, to reframe into a positive mindset and shed negativity amd to stop doubting ourselves. This is an encouraging and positive book. I can’t find anything to criticize, it’s a feel-good book. Rating 5 stars = Love It.
Exceptional You! by Pastor Victoria Osteen is an outstanding book, filled with hope, encouragement, and practical wisdom. I found it captivating, easy to read, and hard to put down. Victoria writes in a casual style that is easy to follow along with and understand. I could almost hear her speaking the words to me as I worked my way through the chapters.I love the way she takes everyday life examples and uses them to demonstrate deeper spiritual truths that empower the reader to move forward into the identity God has called them to walk in. I found many parts of the book to be transparent and revealing into the person and character of the author. It’s almost as if she becomes a trusted friend within the pages.The book is divided into 7 core principles, and each principle has 2 main points (chapters) that she discusses and teaches from in greater detail. At the end of each chapter, she includes powerful “Exceptional You Thoughts†that the reader can use daily to influence their journey into the exceptional.I have been using the “Exceptional You Thoughts†regularly and see them as seeds of truth that are being planted in my spirit. When I speak them out each day, it is as if those seeds are being watered by my audible voice, and change is beginning to happen. The seeds are breaking through and showing evidence of transformation in my spirit.There are so many solid truths in this book that it is difficult to pick just one to share, but I think I most enjoyed the acorn story and the red umbrella story … they teach powerful principles that speak to me personally. The acorn is just a small thing—but when nurtured, cultivated and cared for, it produces a great big oak tree that has an expansive reach (or influence) that increases over time. And that red umbrella on the beach—it reminds us to check in with God on a regular basis so that we can stay in alignment with him and not veer too far off course.I can’t say enough about this book. I love it. It is transformational, powerful, life-giving, and empowering. I think everyone should get a copy for yourself and a friend. Read it and share it with others. It’s that good.

I love Joel but this is my first encounter with Victoria.I didn't know much about her, or what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised.She is as wonderful a storyteller & as thought provoking as her husband.I feel I must share, in case you make my same assumption, this is not geared towards women.It is for everyone.It's not preachy. More a pep talk to remember to appreciate yourself.This is a short book, just over 200 pages, and easy to fly through.It has been a source of reference and quick inspiration, that I have come back to.Reminds me of one of my favorites 'Jesus Calling'.I can open to a random page and, find the words I need at the time.That, for me, shows the book is blessed & God is speaking to us through the author.Whether you are someone who reads a book from cover to cover.Or, likes to hop around to Chapters of interest, 'Exceptional You' evokes a smile from inside.
Exceptional You by Victoria Osteen is easily one of my favorite books of 2019. I love reading inspirational books, but this one resonated with me from beginning to end. Maybe it's because of the things I have been experiencing in my life lately that made me hold on tightly to Victoria's words of encouragement. The title implies that there are seven ways to live encouraged, empowered, and intentional, but I feel as though Victoria gives the readers more than seven ways to live your best life.The reason I feel as though she gives more than seven ways is each of the seven core principles is broken down with two main points. Let me not forget about the Exceptional Thoughts section!! The Exceptional Thoughts section opens up discussion amongst each other or yourself. I would recommend getting yourself a journal and write out how you can apply these principles to your life.Victoria Osteen also shares stories of people who are now living their exceptional life. That's one of the things I love about Victoria; she has the gift of storytelling. One of the stories she shared was a story of her friend that owns IT Cosmetics. It's always a fantastic thing to hear about the backstory of someone's success. It serves as a reminder that things don't ever happen overnight. We have to be persistent, faithful, and never give up on our dreams! God may not come when we want him to, but HE is still on time.I also recommend that everyone get themselves a Memory Box and hold on close to it. You will have to read the book to find out what I'm referring to, but I believe it's one of the most powerful thing you can do for yourself.I highly recommend you buy this book for yourself! It's time for us to start embracing what makes us Exceptional!!
