Not sure where to begin with this book. I love a good health read. And a controversial one tends to peak my interest. This book will no doubt be labeled as controversial by many. There are many people who are defiantly against taking high doses of vitamin d3, which this book proudly supports. That said, the author backs up what he says. Starting with a compelling story of his own journey.The author's tale of healing is astounding. The pain that this man has been through, especially the terrible story about the brown recluse bite is horrifying. The author goes into detail about what seems to be a 15 year or so long journey of recovery, ending with - you guessed it- vitamin d3 as the super hero.The author's journey isn't solely about him. It's also about his patients (he is a doctor). And he goes on to detail stories about their own healing journeys as well. But this book is more than just about stories from him and his patients. There are a lot of studies he cites and he goes into detail about how vitamin d3 treats specific illnesses, such as respiratory, obesity, sleep disorders and more. Some of the stories of results, particularly the obesity ones, from taking vitamin d3 are really amazing. Patients losing hundreds of pounds from just taking the vitamin. Yes, it doesn't sound true, but the author does provide explanations for why this weight loss happens when taking vitamin d.Since reading this, I've been working on upping my vitamin d3 intake, and have noticed some mild results thus far. More and more I've been suffering from chronic congestion, and to my delight it's gotten slightly better the past week as I've been getting more d3. It's probably too early to point to this as the sole reason. But I'm optimistic. I'll return to this review with more of my results after testing this out for a series of weeks/months.Either way, this is a great book, definitely in the top 5 out of the 30 or so books I've read this year. Highly recommend this one as it is incredibly eye-opening and just may change the way you think about healing, and may even change your life.

Dr. Somerville is knowledgeable about his subject and delivers his message with obvious care and passion. There are clear explanations of what he calls "winter syndrome", and how we in our day and times, are all suffering from it. We are all suffering from Vitamin D3 deficiency. You come to understand why and the awful consequences of Vitamin D3 deficiency. But you are also given the science and the path to Optimal levels of Vitamin D3 and its benefits. The style of this book is science meets everyday guy. It is so honest, as Dr. Somerville tells not only his patients' stories but, his own story as well. You get lots of researched information and lots of real people stories. He and his patients all regained better health after a long stretch of ill health and poor quality of life. Each chapter is closed with a useful review. There is the testimony of his life; testimonials from patients, and lots of aha! moments in this book. I'm a believer and I highly recommend this book to you.

Not only do I love Doctor Somerville's personal story of reinventing his life after tragedy struck, but also how he transformed himself into the best kind if Functional Medical Practioner by finding a better, natural cure for himself and his patients. Kudos to him for having the courage to widely publish something that goes against the establishment, but offers hope to millions.There is now hope for so many suffering from sleeplessness, restless leg syndrome, low energy, blood sugar problems, low immunity, snoring and weight gain amongst others.The research, real-life examples and in-depth explanations are impressive enough to inform medical professionals, but written in an easily understandable way for the laymen.I am convinced and already taking Vit D!

I love it!Very glad to have read this book with an important message to share, it brings inspiration and hope in the way people look at their health. It is life changing for those who read and embrace the change it is recommended with the research and many successful testimonials through the years of experience.

This book immediately appealed to me when I realized its recommendations of Vitamin D3 at optimal levels can help me with several issues I have, including restless leg syndrome, allergies, and sleepless nights. I’m really excited to try this, especially to help with my restless legs as they’ve been getting worse and as not a lot helps. I have high hopes that this will be just what I’ve been looking for. I also love that he listed a website where we can go to ask questions and get further help—talk about going above and beyond!Also, the book was well written and easy to follow. Well done!

I learned do much reading this book! I had no idea how many ways D3 contributes to our well-being and health. The explanations for why this is important are well-researched, clearly organized, and supported by a ton of anecdotal evidence. But, don't think that the book will read like a text book. It won't. Dr. Summerville's words are conversational throughout. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in their health and well-being.

Wow, this book was eye-opening! I had never heard of taking D3 before and all the benefits it provides. I'm totally sold on it, and want to go and get some supplements so I can get my health to a top-notch level. D3 helps with weight gain, restoring your immune system, better sleep, etc. Definitely read this book if you are suffering from any health issues, it might just save your life and quality of life.
